It's a Big UVA Sports and Entertainment Weekend!

There's lots going on at UVA this weekend -- the 25th-ranked Cavalier men's basketball team (21-6) is playing the 7th-ranked UNC Tarheels team (24-4) at the John Paul Jones arena Saturday afternoon.  The game's a sell-out but you can watch it on ESPN.  Be sure and root for the 'Hoos!

Tonight, the UVA women's basketball team (19-9) is closing out its regular season at home against Wake Forest (16-11).  It's Senior Night, and the University will be honoring the players and manager who will be graduating.  Thanks ladies, and best wishes to you!

The UVA baseball team (1-1) will also be hosting Monmouth College (NJ) in a 3 game series starting today and the nationally-ranked men's and women's lacrosse teams will be in action this weekend (men's team vs. Stony Brook on Saturday at noon, women's team vs. Syracuse on Sunday at noon).

Music, drama and cinema are also on UVA's menu this weekend.  The Drama Department will be presenting "Vinegar Tom" at the Culbreth Theater.  The play is about 17th century women's struggles for equality in the era of witch trials.  The UVA Jazz Ensemble will be performing on Saturday night at Old Cabell Hall, at the end of the Lawn.  And the Virginia Film Festival, sponsored by UVA, will be the beneficiary of Oscar Night live on the big screen at the Paramount Theater in downtown C-ville on Sunday evening.

Ah, the joys of a college town!

If you are planning to come to Charlottesville for a game or production at UVA, stay with us.  We have 4 UVA alums in the family, and we'd love to chat with you about our favorite university.

Snowfall at the Inn at Monticello

On Sunday afternoon and evening, about 4 inches of snow fell in our area. One of our guests, Bob Merhaut, a professional photographer in Leesburg, took this stunning picture of the Inn.  It's been a very mild winter (so far), and this is the first significant snow we've had, so the photo is a great remembrance of how beautiful the Inn is in the winter.  Thanks Bob!
